Along with Hillside Cellars, Lang Vineyards pioneered wine growing on the Naramata Bench in 1990. This narrow strip of vineyards now contains the greatest concentration of Okanagan wineries, almost all, like Lang Vineyards, offering stunning views and tasty wines. Winery founder Günther Lang, well regarded for riesling, created dessert wines flavoured with maple syrup that have been big sellers in Asia. In 2005, the winery was acquired by Holman Farms, owner of the Mistral, Stonehill, Soaring Eagle and Spiller wineries. In 2009, three Lang wines won silver medals at the challenging Austrian Wine Championships International Wine Competition in Vienna, including the 2007 Farm Reserve Riesling, the flagship wine here. The Holman Lang group is in the process of hiring a new winemaker.
