Are you yearning for a local getaway that offers more than just the ordinary? Look no further than the Silver Star Wine Festival, a unique event that perfectly marries the North Okanagan’s rich influences in agriculture, winemaking, and adventure. Taking place from August 10 to 13, 2023, this festival promises a weekend filled with unforgettable experiences.
A Multi-Faceted Experience
Under the expert guidance of event organizer Dana Lee Harris and her team, the Silver Star Wine Festival is more than just a wine tasting event. In collaboration with Destination Silver Star, the festival aims to create a multi-faceted experience for attendees. Imagine indulging in a culinary journey with world-class expertise in wine, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Monashee Mountains.
But that’s not all. The festival also offers opportunities for mountain biking, foodie events, sightseeing, and more. It’s a celebration of the region’s vibrant culture and natural beauty, designed to cater to a variety of interests and tastes.
The Star of the Festival
The Signature Walk-About Tasting is undoubtedly the star of the festival. Spearheaded by the renowned Chef Bernard Casavant, an inductee of the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame and culinary director at Lakehouse Kitchens School, this event will feature food pairings crafted to complement the wines from 30 BC wineries. If you are planning to attend, be sure to purchase tickets in advance!
More Than Just Wine
The Silver Star Wine Festival also features exciting dinners and brunches hosted by Silver Star’s most beloved establishments. On Friday night, resort’s Executive Chef Scott Sanderson will conduct a five-course menu starring Italian flavors with fresh BC seafood, paired with wine from five different Okanagan wineries.
For the first time, the weekend’s schedule includes seminars where industry experts will lead 90-minute tasting events. These workshops are the perfect opportunity to taste wines closely and gain insights into upcoming trends in the BC winemaking world.
A Unique Blend of Experiences
One of the festival’s unique features is the pairing of festival experiences with activities that require lift access, such as hiking to downhill mountain biking. The Polson Artisan’s Market will also be running throughout the weekend, offering a variety of local crafts and products.
In addition to various gastronomic and outdoor attractions, there will be free concerts at the event featuring Josh Bogert, Andrew Allen, and Sister Speak. Some events are free to attend, including outdoor concerts and the artisan market, however, most festival events will require tickets and for guests to be 19+.
The Silver Star Wine Festival is more than just a wine event; it is a celebration of the North Okanagan’s rich culture and natural beauty. Whether you are a wine connoisseur, a foodie, an adventurer, or simply someone looking for a unique local getaway, this festival has something for everyone. So, mark your calendars for August 10-13, 2023, and prepare to immerse yourself in a weekend of unforgettable experiences.
