This winery takes its name from Neil Massey’s occupation as a truck driver for production companies shooting movies in Western Canada. An easygoing man, Massey has acquired many friends among the stars, and a portfolio of autographed photographs that adorn the winery’s tasting room.
Betty Massey is an accomplished artist; many of her finest paintings depict British Columbia’s ranch country. Recently, her canvas has been the vineyard that replaced a Summerland area orchard the Masseys bought in 1998. The varieties grown here organically include pinot noir, pinot gris, gewürztraminer, several muscats, zweigelt and Léon Millot. The Masseys like the latter variety so much that a substantial additional planting took place in 2008. It goes into a popular red blend called Cranky Old Man.
It also goes into Three Amigos, a blend of zweigelt and merlot with Léon Millot.
