Little Straw Vineyards

2815 Ourtoland Road
Kelowna, BC

The Slamka family (Slamka is Slovak for “little straw,” hence the winery name) has grown grapes here for about 35 years. The oldest vines, a variety dear to the Slamka family, are auxerrois, used both for an old vines auxerrois and a rare auxerrois icewine. Other varieties here include pinot noir and sauvignon blanc, with recent plantings of syrah and viognier.

After a decade jammed into a tiny winery and tasting room, in 2005, Little Straw built a large, two-storey winery, offering great views from the wine shop, elbow room for efficient winemaking and space for a restaurant and a rentable conference room.

  1. So sorry to hear that the winery is passing to new ownership. For decades we have visited Slamka/Little Straw every time we travelled to the Okanagan from Vancouver, and we always patronized your establishment in our own small way. Your wines were featured at all our sons’ weddings and other family affairs, and also at some events we were instrumental in arranging in the Ukrainian community in Vancouver. We shall miss you and yours! Thank you for your creative efforts over these years!
