In 2004, the Manoff family moved to the Okanagan from Israel, where Roie was a partner in a software company and his son, Idan, was a computer engineer.
The senior Manoff honed an interest in viticulture by spending time at one of Israel’s top boutique wineries. Before his business career, however, he flew Israeli combat jets and that inspired the winery name. In the Okanagan, the Manoff family leased a small gewürztraminer vineyard near Penticton and then purchased a Summerland orchard.
They are converting that gradually to grapes, including syrah and viognier. As he was born in Argentina (but left as a child), Roie is pleased the winery will be releasing its first malbec late in 2010 or early 2011.
